April marks National Cancer Control Month. All around the country organizations are finding unique ways to promote awareness and bolster support for cancer prevention strategies. On April 18, Vera Whole Health CEO Ryan Schmid will join executives from around the country in the Fit2Be Cancer Free CEO Fitness Challenge.
As a member of the American Cancer Society’s CEOs Against Cancer program, Ryan’s commitment to this year’s challenge is specifically aimed at promoting cancer screenings. Cancer screenings are one of the most effective ways to improve cancer survival rates, though they are not fully utilized in today’s healthcare system.
Did you know?
- 36% of employees don’t return to work after receiving treatment for cancer
- Cancer accounts for 1% of claims but 10% of all healthcare costs
- Prevention programs that include regular screenings are proven to decrease cancer risk
This month’s challenge is a competition between leaders like Ryan, who will wear pedometers to track their steps during their workday. Members will step together in order to encourage their colleagues, friends, and community to get active.
Vera is proud to support Ryan’s participation in this month’s challenge and would like to extend an invitation to other CEOs to join him. Ready to take your first steps? You can register to join here.
